60th Drink

Well that was a lovely bit of mind-fuckery there by the deities. I know it's not like we should be surprised by this point, but that doesn't mean we shouldn't be appalled.

I'm sure some of you had really good experiences with dreams, which is nice, but I have a feeling that most of the City didn't, just because that seems to be the modus operandi of the deities. Angst and embarrassment were probably the most common outcomes of the dreams.

I'd very much like to see you.

[There's a knock at his door.]

[Tony opened the door and immediately pulled Romana into a hug. One he was sure he wouldn't be pulled away from.]

[She wouldn't pull away, and in fact wrapped her arms around his neck and held on as tightly as he. The only thing she's wanted since waking from that awful nightmare were his arms around her and his voice in her ear - the only things she was certain would make that growing voice in the back of her head be quiet for awhile.]

[Tony continued to just hold her close, surprised at how tightly she was clinging to him. Still, he was glad that he could be here for her right now.]

It's okay, I'm here and I'm not letting you go.

[She relaxed a bit, still with her arms around him and sighed.]

I know.

[Tony softly kissed her on the top of the head, glad to hear that she knew he wasn't going anywhere.]

I'm glad you came. It means a lot.

[She tried a rueful laugh as she looked up.]

Waking up alone was fairly awful, it was this or spend the day crying. I figured this would be better for both of us.

[Tony leaned forward and softly kissed her on the lips.]

Maybe you shouldn't wake up alone for a few days. Are you hungry? I can make you something to eat.

[She gave another sigh and shook her head.]

No. I mean "no", I'm not hungry - not "no I...oh, never mind. Honestly, despite the sleep I'm still exhausted, I just want to relax for awhile.

[Tony stepped away just a bit but held on to her hand as he lightly pulled her towards his room.]

They why don't we just lay down then? You can just rest while I hold you.

[She frowned a bit, but still followed.]

I don't want to interrupt you day just because I haven't slept well.

I don't want you to feel like you can't see me for any reason at all, big or small, because you're worried about interrupting my dad.

[Tony turned to face her.]

Nothing here is more important to me than you.

[The intensity and concern in his face startled Romana.]

I'm sorry, I didn't mean to- I...oh, bother.

I know you didn't.

[Tony reached out and cupped her cheek with his hand.]

But I want you to know how much of a priority you are to me.

[Romana leaned up and gave him a soft kiss.]

I do, dearest, I do.

[She held his hand until they got to the bedroom and she sat on the bed to undo the laces on her boots.]

[Tony sat behind her and put his hands on her shoulders and massaged them.]

You can stay with me as long as you want.

[She finished removing her boot and just sat there, enjoying the comfort of his hands. Finally Romana pulled them around her, leaning back against Tony's chest.]

I might never leave.

[Tony just sat there and held her, hugging her tight to him.]

That would be fine with me.

[Romana sat there, happy to be in his arms, for a few minutes before finally breaking away to make her way to the head of the bed, pulling Tony with her so she could lay down. She couldn't remember the last time she'd felt so utterly drained.]

[Tony followed her and just held her in his arms, taking comfort in the feel of her there and oddly honored that she would come to him at a time like this.]

I like this. Not you being so confused with things, but just being here with you.

[Romana snuggled into his arms a little deeper and tucked herself against his side, with her head on his shoulder. She could feel the sleep already pulling at her.]

...me, too...

[Tony kissed her on the top of her head and snuggled up next to her.]

Have a good sleep, Romana.
