Apparently it is against City Building Code to have missiles of any sort in your building, even if they're used in defense of the City. Also, violating that code caries a very, very heavy fine.

So, if you thought about equipping your apartment or storefront with any, you might be aware of the fine.

I think I need to go to the deity office and read up on any other Building Codes I might inadvertently be violating.

The deities decided I needed full regalia. I'm lucky I managed to get most of the layers off before coming in or I wouldn't be able to walk.

What could the women of this period possibly have been thinking?

Granted my people have little room to talk, they were quite barbaric themselves at one time, but still.

It was worse in some cultures, better in others, and a few were matriarchal in nature, but for the most it was similar to that.

Probably not, although I'm sure there are flaws with every culture.

Romana spoke from the doorway, absently tugging at the elaborate garment she was wearing.

Tony smiled at her and stood up from his desk, glad that she was there.

"We've still got a long way to go on a lot of them," he said. "And you make that dress look very good."

Case in point, she nearly stumbled trying to walk over to meet him.

Tony chuckled and stood up, moving to Romana and wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Here, let me help then," he said.

Glad for his arms, for more than one reason, Romana allowed herself to be led.

Tony pulled her close and gave her a slow kiss before he answered.

"I know, I"m sorry about that," he said. "Apparently I was an alternate version fo myself."

"Who fought giant robots for fun and profit. Sounded interesting, to a point."

She reached up and gently caressed his cheek. "But now you're back and something's upset you again."

"I didn't very much like who I was," Tony told her. He remembered how he felt like such a coward, or at least not as confident as he was now.

"It's the same thing," he said with a shrug. "People from my world."

She wished, and not for the first time that there were something she could do. Instead, she wound her arms around his neck and pulled him into an embrace.

"I'm so sorry, love."

Tony sighed and relaxed into her arms. He hated that she had to deal with this, but he knew how equally unfair it was to shut her out of things.

"The worst part is that I deserve it all," he said.

Tony gave a very happy grumble as her fingers danced along her neck.

"I don't know that I've earned forgiveness," he said.

Romana pulled back to look him in the eyes.

"You will. If there's one thing I've learned about you, it's your determination to make things right. It's one of the things I love about you."
