I'd like to take a moment to talk about recruitment opportunities within the Police Force. I'm starting a Technology Division within the Force. The intention is to both specialize in solving crimes where technology was the main means used to commit the crime as well as use the technology available in the City to assist other divisions. If this something that you're interested, please let me know.
If you're already a member of the Police Force and would like to transfer into this area, please let me know.
Also, I'm looking for anyone in the City that has cancer. We've been working on a cure at City Solutions and we've come to the point where we need to do clinical trials on humans. Or, I guess if there are any non-humans out there who have cancer, we could treat you too. If this is something you're interested in please let me know.

Date: 2009-02-26 03:21 am (UTC)Well. I'm fairly new here, but I'm Dr. James Wilson; I'm an oncologist. I actually do have a patient here in the City... it's an extremely unusual case, but I can certainly ask if this is something she'd be interested in.
But, in any case, I'll certainly be looking forward to hearing how this goes.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:21 am (UTC)Would it be alright if I brought her with me? I'm sure she'd appreciate being able to ask you about the trials personally.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:05 am (UTC)I'm actually going in to see the facilities and find out about the trials this weekend; I doubt that it would be a problem if you were to come as well.

Date: 2009-02-26 03:27 am (UTC)You could treat particular cases, but you can't exactly keep cells from dividing without causing a different set of problems possibly much worse than cancer to begin with.

Date: 2009-02-26 03:59 am (UTC)Don't use my failure as a soapbox, Stark. It doesn't suit the object lesson.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:07 am (UTC)In City Solutions we operate as a group under and Ethics Committee. Multiple people review projects and observe results. More eyes on a project to better spot the dangers before and after they happen. Your failure is exactly the sort of thing we hope to prevent. You've practically become the object lesson.
You're brilliant as a scientist and I'm glad that whatever you did to yourself was correctable or reversible but the choices you've made have shown that you're just not the type of person I would want to work with or for me nor would I trust you with research of the nature we're doing with cancer.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:12 am (UTC)I don't want to work for you. I'm very retired. I only wanted to make a note that the type of work you think you want to try doing is expensive, difficult, time-consuming and uncertain.

Date: 2009-02-26 04:50 am (UTC)Seeing as how I'm footing the bill, I'm well aware of the cost. And the treatment we're developing has more than one use and most science is uncertain. But I guess when you get down to it I guess I just believe that saving a life is worth a few billion dollars, some late nights, and some risks.
