Apparently it is against City Building Code to have missiles of any sort in your building, even if they're used in defense of the City. Also, violating that code caries a very, very heavy fine.

So, if you thought about equipping your apartment or storefront with any, you might be aware of the fine.

I think I need to go to the deity office and read up on any other Building Codes I might inadvertently be violating.

Tony smiled at her and stood up from his desk, glad that she was there.

"We've still got a long way to go on a lot of them," he said. "And you make that dress look very good."

"It may look good, but it's certainly a challenge to move around in."

Case in point, she nearly stumbled trying to walk over to meet him.

Tony chuckled and stood up, moving to Romana and wrapping his arms around her waist.

"Here, let me help then," he said.

Glad for his arms, for more than one reason, Romana allowed herself to be led.

"I missed you over the weekend."

Tony pulled her close and gave her a slow kiss before he answered.

"I know, I"m sorry about that," he said. "Apparently I was an alternate version fo myself."

"Who fought giant robots for fun and profit. Sounded interesting, to a point."

She reached up and gently caressed his cheek. "But now you're back and something's upset you again."

"I didn't very much like who I was," Tony told her. He remembered how he felt like such a coward, or at least not as confident as he was now.

"It's the same thing," he said with a shrug. "People from my world."

She wished, and not for the first time that there were something she could do. Instead, she wound her arms around his neck and pulled him into an embrace.

"I'm so sorry, love."

Tony sighed and relaxed into her arms. He hated that she had to deal with this, but he knew how equally unfair it was to shut her out of things.

"The worst part is that I deserve it all," he said.

Romana stroked his neck. "You made a mistake, you hvae to forgive yourself - sooner or later they will, too"

Tony gave a very happy grumble as her fingers danced along her neck.

"I don't know that I've earned forgiveness," he said.

Romana pulled back to look him in the eyes.

"You will. If there's one thing I've learned about you, it's your determination to make things right. It's one of the things I love about you."

Tony gave her a small smile. He really was lucky to have a woman like this.

"I hope so," he told her. "It's a lot of mistakes."

"Then it may take time. But someday it will happen, and more people will see the man I do."

Tony sighed.

"I think that might be a bit hopeful," he told her. "I would just settle for them seeing me as a slightly good man."

"Give it time." Romana laced her fingers behind his neck and relaxed in his arms, really comfortable for the fist time that day.

"What would you like to do, since we're obviously not getting much done here." She nodded toward Tony's desk which looked much like her lab, all parchment and inks without a decent piece of equipment anywhere.

"Something distracting. There's a festival I hear, the gardens..."

Tony pressed against Romana and enjoyed the feeling of her fingers on his neck. Anywhere her skin came in contact with his he felt a pleasant heat.

"A festival sounds like a great idea," he said, smiling at her. "I'd love to go."

Smiling back was easy, after the last few weeks Romana felt as if a weight had been lifted off her shoulders.

"Then it's settled. No more trying to work, a nice day, and a quiet evening."

"Alright, no more trying to work," he said. "No more talking on the network or anything like that. Just you and I spending time together at the festival."

Romana took a step out of Tony's arms, drawing her hands down his arms until she reached his fingertips. Grasping them lightly she took a few steps back drawing him along with her.

"And the nice thing about the lack of electricity today, it means we can have a relaxing candle-lit dinner afterwords."

She might not be able to help him with the people from his world, but she could at least distract him.

Tony gripped her fingertips with his own and followed after her. She was right, there wasn't really really much he could do here at the moment. Not only that, spending an evening out with Romana was a very inviting proposition.

"I think a candle-lit dinner sounds fantastic," he told her, quickening his step so that he could give her a quick kiss.

Romana would have taken a step closer so she could prolong the kiss, unfortunately, her feet had other ideas and tangled themselves in the hem of her garment, causing her to trip again.

Laughing, Tony caught her before she could fall too far over and pulled her closer to him.

"Want me to pretend you did that on purpose to get closer?" he asked, grinning at her.

Romana laughed, "If only. Hold on a moment."

Holding onto Tony for balance she reached down and removed her shoes. "We'll try this barefoot today." That was much better.

She rose on her toes a bit and gave Tony a kiss. "Besides, I don't need excuses to get close to you."

Tony waited until she had her shoes off before he started walking again. It was good to be with her, in more ways than one.

"No, no you don't," he said, squeezing her hand. "You can get as close as you'd like."
